About SSS
The Student Support Services (SSS) Program provides supplemental tutoring, counseling, remediation and other support services to disadvantaged college students. The aim of the Program is to increase rates of college retention and graduation among disadvantaged college students. Student Support Services (SSS) is a TRIO Program federally funded by the United States Department of Education designed to assist students.

The Program provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with college requirements, and serves to motivate towards the successful completion of their post-secondary education. The goal of our Program is to increase college retention, increase graduation rates of its participants, and facilitate the process of transition from high school to a four–year college or university.
The Program is available to students participating in the New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund Program who demonstrate academic need and are first-generation college students and/ or qualify as a low-income student (as determined by the U.S. Department of Education in the table below:
SSS sees the value in working collaboratively with other student services on campus. SSS participants will seek guidance and support from the Writing Center, the Rutgers Learning Center, the Career and Development Center, Psychological Services, Student Activities, P.A.L.S., and other student services to provide comprehensive support to address student needs.

SSS Tutoring and
Academic Skills Building
The Student Support Services Program at Rutgers-Newark provides
individualized tutorial services at no cost to all qualifying
participants.
Individual Learning
Skills Assessment and Instruction
Students interested in 1) Developing courses specific learning
strategies, 2) Understanding their unique learning style, or 3) Learning
more about the skills below can make an appointment with a Learning
Specialist.
Peer Leadership &
Professional Development
The mission of the SSS Peer Leadership and Professional Development
Program is to assist program participants who have shown a desire to
improve their academic performance and explore leadership and career
opportunities.
